GC, NW Sarouk's Satellite of KCDancers, DM
Joan and Bill Benson of Sarouk Cattery had a Silver Tabby male kitten. He was the kitten with the right pedigree, and and just what we were looking to add to our breeding program. After a few shows, this boy named Satellite was placing consistently in the finals, and we felt that he was the fulfillment of the CFA standard for the American Shorthair.
We entered the 1990 International CFA show in St. Louis, in which 800 cats and kittens competed, and Satellite was awarded the prestigious honor of “Best of the Best". The following morning, Satellite and Kathy appeared on Good Morning America. We felt that this was our dream come true... but it wasn't over yet! For the remainder of the show season, Satellite appeared in top shows throughout the country winning numerous awards and trophies. Satellite finished the show season as the CFA National Second Best American Shorthair and Fifth Best All Breed cat. Satellite then earned the title of Distinguished Merit after siring 15 Grand Champion sons and daughters.
After retiring from the show ring, and then from their breeding program, Satellite settled into running our home and being Top Cat in our household. He loved people, and was loved by all those who were fortunate enough to interact with him. Sadly, we lost our beloved boy in November 2002 at the age of 13 years and 4 months.
